James Jordan, 22, is a final year BSc Agriculture student who comes from a mixed; dairy, beef and arable farm in Worcestershire. James is a recipient of the Kildare Charitable Trust Scholarship.

His main interests are in the areas of dairy cows, beef cattle, and trying to improve grass utilisation. He spent his placement year in Northumberland working on a progressive suckler herd learning more about suckled calf production.

“I applied to this scholarship as I wish to increase my knowledge. Looking towards my future and my passion for dairying, I felt that the Kildare Charitable Trust, which has given generous donations towards students from Herefordshire and Worcestershire as well as to a wide variety of other charities in the local area, would be the correct scholarship to apply for. This scholarship has allowed me to apply for an additional dairy specific course that I will complete after graduation”, he said.

In his spare time, he enjoys playing hockey for Harper Adams Hockey Club and plays an active part in his local Young Farmers Club.
